The first group of people with a genetic mutation was called “The Mutants”. They had an X-Gene that means they have extra power which gives them abilities which normal humans lacked. X-men was created by writer Stan Lee and designer Jack Kirby.
The superhero team was created by the telepath Charles Xaver (professor X) to protect his brotherhood from the normal humans. The original X-men was comprised by five teenagers still learning to control their powers. Professor X taught them to manipulate, control and optimize their powers. The five teenagers were
Cyclops (Scott – He launches a ray of energy through his eyes), Marvel girl (Jean Grey – Phoenix – she is a powerful telepath), Angel or archangel (Warren – ha has feathered wings which allow him to fly), Beast (Hank Mc Coy – Blue genius) and Ice Man (Bobby – His name said all).
Some years after the X-Men creation, a new team superheroes was introduced. This group was formed by adults, and it is where other principal superheroes appear, for example
Colossus, Nightcrawler, Storm and Wolverine.
The X-men have enemies like Magneto, who was friend of professor X when they were young.
After these characters, new ones and teams were created, but there are many ones to explain. The X-Men comic has been adapted into other media including animated TV series, video games and films.
